I led the redesign of an outdated online banking platform focused on savings accounts and fixed-term deposits. The goal was to create a modern, intuitive experience that empowers users to manage their money easily while laying the groundwork for future banking products. I was responsible for the full product design process - from stakeholder discovery to interface delivery and the creation of a scalable design system.

Understanding the Users
The client’s original product suffered from unclear navigation, outdated visuals, and confusing processes for basic actions like deposits and withdrawals. Internal banking processes were also complex and difficult to interpret. One of the biggest early challenges was understanding how the bank’s business model actually worked - especially how revenue flowed through savings products and fixed deposits.

Design Strategy
We began by identifying key stakeholders and aligning on business goals, design constraints, and technical limitations. I facilitated individual workshops to map internal processes and prioritize functionality based on user pain points and business priorities. The structure of the new experience was designed to simplify complex flows while staying compliant with financial standards and regulations.

Research & Validation
The bank provided initial user research, which revealed major pain points: difficulty navigating the interface, unclear processes for money operations, and a lack of transparency in how interest and deposits worked. I conducted moderated usability tests with target users, observing how they interacted with our early prototypes and validating assumptions with task-based testing and interviews.

Core Flows I Designed
I redesigned every key part of the platform to feel simpler, clearer, and more aligned with how users think about their money. Users could now easily open a fixed-term deposit, transfer funds between accounts, or close an account - all with clear summaries and SMS/email verification flows. I also built a clean, accessible messaging system to streamline communication between users and the bank.

Scalable Design System
To future-proof the product, I created a modular design system in Figma that unified all of the bank’s current and future offerings. The library included design tokens, grid systems, component libraries, and pre-built templates - making it easier for teams to build consistent new products. This system served as a single source of truth across all digital touchpoints and accelerated collaboration between designers and developers.

This system served as a single source of truth across all digital touchpoints and accelerated collaboration between designers and developers.


The diagram shows the design system architecture in Figma - from the central core library (atoms & tokens), to component repositories (organisms & templates), to design files, enabling modular scaling and consistency of interfaces.

The redesigned platform turned a confusing, outdated banking experience into a modern, user-friendly tool for managing money. It aligned with the bank’s goal to expand digital savings products and reduced friction for both users and internal teams. The design system created during the project continues to support scalability and brand consistency as the bank grows.
